GIFTS FOR CHRISTMAS - WEEK 12 OF THE 12 WEEKS OF CHRISTMAS 2022

Karen Cumming

This is the final week for my 12 Weeks of Christmas Projects this year! Hasn't the time flown by?

As I had two ideas, I decided to do them both rather than choose. You can never have enough inspo, right?!

The first project is a tea light holder , inspired by Debbie Leigh. It looks very cute on a sideboard as part of your Christmas decorations. It would also make a lovely gift. I sized it for the embossing folder used on the front and 2 tea lights - battery operated one's so we don't start a fire!!

For the box I used 2 pieces of DSP measuring 15 x 18cm. They are scored at 12cm & 17cm on the long side. Before you assemble the box, cut out all your window pieces and assemble them on one of the pieces of DSP. That way you can work on a flat surface. Once that's done, you can fold on the score lines and glue together.

To make the window, I used the Window Dies and the Window Wishes stamp set. But you could also use a punch or a large label die to cut out the window. I also used a piece of window sheet but you don't need to, it could just be left open.

My next project is a holder for a set of cards. This is a really simple holder that you can make very quickly from a piece of 12" x 12" DSP. It holds 6 cards and envelopes. The amount you can fit depends on the number of embellishments on each card because of the thickness & closing the holder.

Start with your piece of DSP and score it at 6" on one side - it's easier to work in inches for this project, trust me! Turn the DSP 90 degrees and score at 6 & 5/8".

This is so you can fit standard C6 envelopes. If you want to give a set of note cards and envelopes, which are much smaller, you could score at 6" on both sides of the paper, which makes a smaller pocket.

Use your trimmer to line up the score lines and cut a triangle off two corners - see the pic. That's it! Holder made.

Be sure to use your bone folder on the creases to give it a nice professional finish.

Use ribbon to tie the whole thing together and decorate as much as you like. My focus was the cards, so I left the holder plain and let the DSP do the talking!
